Sorry there were no posts yesterday. I spent a lot of time sleeping off a cold. Blah. I was wrong about getting Radio to publish correctly, but they're working with me on the problem so I still have hope. More later. Two great articles from Library Stuff. The first one is about "bookstore-merchandising style" or "natural-language layout" at the Powell Branch of the Delaware County District Library. I really like this idea because it makes finding titles much easier for non-librarians. Usability isn't just for Web sites! The second link is to a Northern Light article about Convey Systems' new software for adding a link to live librarian help within a library's third-party vendor databases. Another excellent idea, as this is where a lot of users get bogged down in usability issues we can't control. Of course, the article doesn't note how much this software costs (nor does the Convey Web site), but I'm sure it's aimed more at academic libraries so my hometown public library probably won't be able to afford it. Perhaps a grant opportunity?.... And BTW, congratulations to Steven for getting the Stuff into Blogger. I like the re-design, and blogging software will lessen the workload for him. If you're not reading his blog, you should be. Blogging software makes sites like this soooo much easier. I might still be doing the Librarians' Site du Jour if I'd had it lo those many moons ago. Oh blogger, where were thou?
