Gaming and Libraries: Intersection of Services by Jenny Levine

A few cool things that have gone out the door at work lately. I can't take credit for any of these - I'm just excited about them.

• Wendy Prellowitz started a MySpace account for ALA.


• Karen Muller and Valerie Hawkins from the ALA Library started a Professional Tips wiki and a Google Custom Search Engine called The Librarian's E-Library. Read more about them here.


• The ALA Washington Office has started podcasting today using our blogging software! Subscribe ot the feed here. Full credit goes to Andy Bridges, with tech support from Matt Ivaliotes. This should be the tip of the iceberg. I like that the software embeds a player automatically in the post and/or you can subscribe to the feed and get the file as a podcast. In addition, the music in the podcast is from ccMixter and was available under a Creative Commons license. I love that Andy used CC music!

One thing I can take some credit for is the "hold the date" announcement for the 2007 ALA TechSource Gaming, Learning, and Libraries Symposium to be held in the Chicago area July 22-24. We'll post as soon as registration is open, as I know we have folks chomping at the bit to sign up. I can't even tell you how big this is going to be, but trust me - you don't want to miss it.
