Oracle acquires voice portal technology "In a move intended to give users voice-based, wireless access to a range of applications and databases, Oracle Monday announced the acquisition of voice portal company Indicast." [via IDG InfoWorld] Hmmmm. We use Oracle Portal at SLS for our databases and authentication, but it's been quite the learning curve. I'm not a programmer, and I don't play one on TV. We wanted to use it for our portal, too, but I'm exploring Frontier & Manila for this purpose instead. Still, we'll keep Oracle for databases, etc., and the addition of VoiceXML could be very interesting! Without thinking this through, there has to be a way to use VoiceXML with remote reference services.
